Regional Economics Perspectives
Dear ,
As per the latest report issued by the Comision Economica para America Latina y el Caribe CEPAL (Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), at present, the European Union is not so important as Trade Partner for the Region.
As is known, the European Union is the second most important Partner in Latin America, followed by the United States, but is highly probable it was replaced from its position by China around years 2014 to 2015. Latin America is being seen with new perspectives by the whole world and diverse countries, even more those from Asia which search for new partnerships with this region.
It must be pointed that in the decade of 90's, the European Union was the main direct foreign investment source for this region, which had also been favoured by a whole of cooperation activities.
For the Comision Economica para America Latina y el Caribe CEPAL (Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), an strengthening in the bilateral relations with the European Union will contribute to face important challenges, as the fighting against poverty, inequality, as well as the boost in technology and innovation. In these sectors, the European Union offers huge opportunities to forge private-public cooperation networks with companies and governments in the region.
For the European Union, there are two key challenges, the searching for economic growth sources and natural resources supply. In both sectors, Latin America and The Caribbean offer multiple opportunities according to the report of Comision Economica para America Latina y el Caribe CEPAL (Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC), , which provides diverse recommendations of policy in the commercial sector and cooperation.
Kindest Regards,
